KINGSTON, Jamaica - The Quick Galloper takes a look at the progress, or lack of progress of the horses who participated in the 2021 9 ½ -furlongs, Grade One event, The Jamaica Cup run on Saturday, November 13.

FIRST - Further and Beyond won the first staging of the Jamaica Cup in spectacular fashion coming from well of the pace with a searing run under the guidance of Linton Steadman for trainer Anthony Nunes. It was a win by Further and Beyond which assisted in him being crowned the 2021 Horse of the Year. Victories have come since the first Jamaica Cup for Further and Beyond, but his four-year-old career has been hampered by injuries. He recently had surgery and will probably not race until the end of March 2023.

SECOND - Billy Whizz ran the best race of his career losing in the final strides. From the Jamaica Cup front running effort, Billy Whizz has not been able to recapture his form and has struggled at four, with injuries keeping him off the track. He recently returned to morning exercise, and will not race until probably the early part of 2023.

THIRD - Calculus has established himself firmly as the two-turn king of the local track. He is currently enjoying his best form ever.

FOURTH – Eroy, unfortunately, passed on.

FIFTH – King Arthur continues to be an up-and-down campaigner. Still rugged but his inconsistency is problematic.

SIXTH – Crimson has not progressed well since the 2021 Jamaica Cup.

SEVENTH – Oneofakind started 2022 well but injuries have curtailed his forward movement. Currently on the rebound.

EIGHTH – Hover Craft continues to race at age 12. Not the same as before, Hover Craft is surely preparing for retirement.

NINTH – Supreme Soul after his Triple Crown heroics has steadily declined.

TENTH – Roy Rogers a once tough campaigner has not been around for a while.
