KINGSTON, Jamaica - Five-year-old American-bred bay horse Eroy makes a successful return to the top grade following a commanding performance to beat rivals in the Hubert Bartley Memorial Trophy feature at Caymanas Park on Sunday, June 26, 2022.
Eroy, finished third on his seasonal debut, 4 ¾ lengths behind Double Diva and Money Monster over 7 furlongs on May 28, and on Sunday on a sloppy track made all the running to beat rivals out of sight in the three-year-old and upward Overnight Allowance contest over 7 ½ furlongs (1,500m). Bred by Khozan out of the Mass Media mare Golden Bucket, Eroy won easily by 12 ¼ lengths in a smart of 1:31.0.
Eroy wasted no time and shot to the front at the start of the race, holding the advantage ahead of Big Big Daddy (Andre Martin), Awesome Treasure (Dane Dawkins), and Denbigh Life (Jordan Barrett) down the backstretch.
Navigating the half-mile turn, Eroy began to open up and in a flash crippled chasing rivals as Awesome Treasure, Miniature Man (Anthony Thomas) and Helicopter (Chalrick Budhai) were left struggling a distance away. Finishing second was Miniature Man with Awesome Treasure third.
