KINGSTON, Jamaica - The 2023 edition of The Portmore brought victory for the Jason DaCosta trained, Dane Dawkins ridden Thalita.

The Portmore now listed as one of the major prep races for the Classic events is designated for three-year-old fillies at a distance of 7 ½ furlongs.

The Quick Galloper reminds readers of the 2023 The Portmore, to find out where are the 12 participants at the present stage of their respective careers.

This review is done in finishing order.
  1. Thalita went on to achieve Classic glory by winning the 10-furlong Jamaica St Leger. After her Classic win, Thalita had to take time off from racing due to injuries but she has recently returned to morning exercise. She galloped four furlongs just last weekend and it seems like she'll be racing again soon.
  2. Mamma Mia, who completed the quinella for trainer Jason DaCosta, was the first of her cohort to win a Classic event, the 1000 Guineas. She became the only one of her three-year-old lot to achieve double Classic triumph with a commanding performance in the 10-furlong Jamaica Oaks. Mamma Mia's best run to date came in the Grade One, Mouttet Mile, where she led for most of the way against seasoned horses, eventually finishing third. She recently won and continues to race in the top grades.
  3. Aria’s Reign, who finished third in The Portmore race, hasn't been active for a while.
  4. Brown Skin Girl has not lived up to expectations and continues to bounce around through her conditions.
  5. Bootylicious was expected to perform well among her peers in the Classics, but injuries hampered her competitive appearances. After a long respite, she recently returned to win an Overnight Allowance. She is now listed in Open Allowance.
  6. All For Love took her time to go through her conditions and is now racing in Overnight Allowance.
  7. Savvy Girl is still racing, and that about it.
  8. Princess Sharon promised much but did not deliver accordingly. She hasn't raced in a while.
  9. Show Girl has achieved three wins from 13 starts with earnings of over $2 million.
  10. Epic has not been active lately.
  11. Gahly Gahly Links doesn't have much to report.
  12. She’s My Hedgefund has raced 29 times with two wins to her credit. It's going to be difficult for her to complete her age group conditions.
  13. Durocell continues to hang around, racing infrequently.
