KINGSTON, Jamaica - The seventh race on Saturday, May 4, 2024, is the annual renewal of the five-furlong straight Reggae Trophy.

Six horses are entered in this Grade One call, with The Quick Galloper’s analysis provided below.

1 - Despite finishing 3 ½ lengths behind the talented Desert of Malibu at six furlongs, A GIFT FROM BEN put up a good  performance. Though he has been consistent throughout, it won't be easy for him to find success.

2 - After a long break, BOOTYLICIOUS won an Overnight Allowance race on March 2. Despite finishing fourth in the higher class, 12 lengths behind Desert of Malibu, Bootylicious seems to have found her stride in the five-straight race, making her a serious contender for this trophy event.

3 - YELLOWSTONE, known for his speed, was a winner in March but was withdrawn from a race on March 2 due to injury. He has won several times coming down the straight chute and with his lightweight (101 lb); he has a good chance of winning if fit and ready.

4 - TAURUS BOY is stepping up to this grade for the first time, making this a new learning curve for him.

5 - IS THAT A FACT is a top contender in this category, with the ability to race with the leaders or from off the pace. Although he has never raced over the straight course, his weight (108 lb) and proven ability make it unlikely that the chute will pose any issue.

6 - NEO STAR appears to be a filler in this race.
