KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Alexander Hamilton Trophy, the feature race on today’s Sunday card produced a bang-up finish with three horses, 2-5 favourite Superluminal, Atlantic Blue (Kiaman McGregor) and Bruce Wayne (Reyan Lewis) fighting for the win.
Superluminal who won this race last year, fought gallantly and was able to take home the trophy for another year.
When the gates opened in this one-mile Open Allowance contest it was Bold Aflair (Dane Dawkins) who went to the front closely followed by God of Love (Oneil Mullings) with a snugly held Superluminal third.
Close to the half-mile point in the race, Walker pushed through Superluminal but they were not alone as God of Love stayed close. At this stage apprentice Kiaman McGregor started to pull the throttle on Atlantic Blue.
Entering the straight for the last two furlongs, Superluminal was in front but was now being challenged by Atlantic Blue on the inside and Bruce Wayne ridden by Reyan Lewis on the outside.
In another dogged, tough and uncompromising effort, Walker dug deep in his reserves to get Superluminal home by a next. Atlantic Blue running for the first time in Open Allowance was just a neck behind in second place with third going to Bruce Wayne.
The winning time was 1:39.3.
