KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jockey Conrod Ellis stood tall in the saddle with hands flagging on Olde Wharf to celebrate one of his rare wins. Ellis gained his long awaited victory in the fourth of 10 races on the Sunday card at Caymanas Park. The event was a three-year-old maiden condition contest run over nine furlongs and 25 yards.

Trained by the red-hot Gary Subratie, Ellis kept Olde Wharf off the pace set by Rashid (Anthony Thomas) with Helmetta (Robert Halledeen) following closely.

Down the backstretch it was still Rashid in front but Helmetta was pushed on by Halledeen to assume the lead with four furlongs to go. Ellis started to get Old Wharf going shortly after.

Entering the straight, Helmetta was losing ground rapidly as Olde Wharf was produced by Ellis, and the two pulled away from rivals to win by 1 ¼ lengths with a jubilant rider on board.

Dracarys (Anthony Allen), the 8-5 favourite who suffered badly at the start came running on the inside rails to nab second with Lava Boy finishing third.

The winning time was 2:00.4.
