KINGSTON, Jamaica – The second race on the Friday “Sprint Fest” at Caymanas Park had eight runners, five foreigners and three local bred horses. At the end of the event, it was one-two-three for the outsiders.

Run over five furlongs straight for two-year-olds, it was the Omar Walker ridden Wayne DaCosta trained Sir Alton (Giant Surprise – Jadam) who got the win but not after a being persistently challenged by another foreigner Crafty and Ready (Linton Steadman) during the last two-furlongs of the race.

Sir Alton was, however, stronger and more determined and in the end got home by a long neck as the prohibitive 1-5 favourite.

Crafty and Ready running at odds of 2-1 was second with another DaCosta trainee Eagle One (Phillip Parchment – 16-1) in the third slot.

Sir Alton clocked a fast 58.1 for the contested distance.
