KINGSTON, Jamaica – The ninth race on Saturday, November 18, features the United Racehorse Trainers' Association Trophy, a two-turn event covering nine furlongs and 25 yards.
This race is open to locally bred three-year-olds and four-year-olds with fewer than four wins, as well as imported horses aged three or older with fewer than three wins.
Eight horses have entered the race, with The Quick Galloper offering an analysis for readers.
1 – RHYTHM BUZZ is a bay colt (April 22) by Buzz Nightmare out of River Rhythm, trained by Vincent Atkinson with Romario Spencer on board. He put in an impressive performance on November 4 (one mile), finishing a close second behind Atlantic Convoy. Rhythm Buzz's last win came on October 8, over the same distance as Saturday's race. In that contest, he beat Money Miser but faces a tougher challenge this time due to weight factors.
2 – MONEY MISER is a chestnut colt (March 16) by Soul Warrior out of She's Traditional, trained by Fitzroy Glispie with Reyan Lewis riding. He finished strongly on November 4 over a mile, just a quarter-length behind winner Atlantic Convoy and Rhythm Buzz. Money Miser has been consistent throughout his eight-career starts, and with an equipment change (a figure-eight), this three-year-old is ready to claim his third win.
3 – SUPER ALEX is a chestnut colt (February 23) by Admiral Alex out of Jamaican Pharoah, trained by Carl Anderson with Raddesh Roman aboard. After securing his second win 21 days ago, he now faces non-winners of three races for the first time. Although he enjoyed the two turns of nine furlongs and 25 yards, Super Alex has previously been beaten by rivals Money Miser, Power From Above, and Wow How, which makes it difficult to see him winning this race.
4 – POWER FROM ABOVE is a chestnut filly by Key To Power out of Blufield, trained by Anthony Nunes with Tevin Foster riding. She was nominated for the November 4 race but withdrew due to lameness. It's challenging to assess her chances in this race.
5 – UNCAPTURED PRINCESS is a chestnut filly (USA April 16) by Uncaptured out of Holyano, trained by Peter McMaster with Omar Walker in the saddle. This foreigner has underperformed on local soil, earning only one win in eight starts. Despite consistent performances, Uncaptured Princess will likely have to wait for another opportunity.
6 – HERE COMES BEN is a bay colt (March 23) by Bern Identity out of Indian Bluff, trained by Gary Griffiths with Dane Dawkins aboard. He won his second race just seven days ago and may need time to adapt to this new grouping.
7 – WOW HOW is a bay filly (February 3) by Perfect Curlin out of Sarah Barracuda, trained by Anthony Nunes with Robert Halledeen riding. This race marks the reunion of trainer Nunes and jockey Halledeen. Wow How secured her second win from seven starts on November 4 over 6½ furlongs but might need more time to develop before winning at this level.
8 – ESSENTIAL QUALITY is a chestnut filly (April 16) by Sensational Slam out of Texas Missy, trained by Oral Hayden with Paul Francis holding the reins. She has failed to replicate her form since winning the Winston Griffiths Trophy and may need more time before returning to form.
