KINGSTON, Jamaica - The ninth race on Saturday, April 27, 2024, is designated for locally bred three-year-old maidens, and for maiden foreigners.

The distance of this event is nine furlongs and 25 yards, with nine horses expected to enter the starting gates.

The Quick Galloper’s assessment provided below is done in draw order.

1 - ROCK-OLA is a chestnut colt, born on April 3, sired by Bold Conquest and out of City Hawk. He is trained by Michael Marlowe and ridden by Oneil Mullings. He is still developing in his age group and requires more time to reach his full potential.

2 - KING PIYE is a chestnut colt, born on April 2, sired by Admiral Alex and out of Jamaican Pharoah. He is trained by Anthony Nunes and ridden by Raddesh. King Piye races with blinkers on and the visor off. He has finished in the top three in all three of his starts so far and looks promising for the nine furlongs on offer.

3 - CLEOPATRA QUEEN is a bay filly from the USA, born on March 16, sired by St Patrick’s Day and out of Caribbean Queen. She is trained by Alford Brown and ridden by Paul Francis. Cleopatra Queen has shown improvement in her fourth start, finishing second behind Chocomo at six furlongs. However, she might find the 9 furlongs and 25 yards distance challenging.

4 - RICHES TO RAGS is a chestnut filly from the USA, born on April 21, sired by Union Rags and out of Place Des Vosges. She is trained by Philip Feanny and ridden by Tevin Foster. From her six starts, Riches To Rags has finished in the top four in all six occasions. She is in good form and expected to perform well again. However, the race's longer distance of 9 furlongs will be a new challenge for her.

5 - SHOOTING STAR is a bay colt from the USA, born on April 12, sired by Tapiture and out of Diffuse Nebula. He is trained by Anthony Nunes and ridden by Reyan Lewis. Shooting Star made his debut 14 days ago, finishing fifth behind Commander Z. His trainer expects an improved performance, but winning this race might be a tough ask.

6 - SOLO BLACK is a bay colt, born on March 14, sired by Northern Giant and out of Late N Drafty. He is trained by Lawrence Freemantle and ridden by Kerry-Gayl Robinson. Solo Black has much to learn, and this race is another opportunity for him to gain experience.

7 - TRAIN OF THOUGHT is a dark bay filly from the USA, born on May 4, sired by Mor Spirit and out of Equitable. She is trained by Anthony Nunes and ridden by Oshane Nugent. Train Of Thought races with the visor off and needs more time to develop.

8 - CHESNEY is a chestnut filly from the USA, born on April 14, sired by Solomini and out of El Coyote. She is trained by Steven Todd and ridden by Youville Pinnock. Chesney races with the tongue tie on and has much to learn.

9 - BRENDA BOY is a bay colt, born on April 3, sired by Savoy Stomp and out of Delightful Brenda. He is trained by Fitzgerald Richards and ridden by Omar Walker. Brenda Boy races with the blinkers and figure eight off and is still in the learning phase.
