KINGSTON, Jamaica - The seventh race on Saturday, April 27, 2024, is dedicated to a thoroughbred regarded by most as the best ever to race at Caymanas Park, Legal Light.

The Legal Light Trophy is a three-year-old and upwards Open Allowance call going the two turns of nine furlongs and 25 yards, in which five horses are entered.

The Quick Galloper’s assessment of the possible outcome of the Legal Light Trophy is offered below.

1 - RHYTHM BUZZ has worked hard to reach this level and comes to the Legal Light Trophy with two consecutive victories, one of which was achieved over seven and a half furlongs. Has tried nine furlongs and 25 yards before in Overnight without making an impression, yet given his level of fitness has to be respected.

2 - FURTHER AND BEYOND - Based on class and talent, Further and Beyond is easily the best horse in the line-up. Although not the horse he once was, he has been performing well in his recent races, including a victory and a second-place finish in his three starts this season. He was 2½ lengths away in second place behind Desert of Malibu in the St Cecelia Cup over 6½ furlongs on March 23. All signs point to a win from the former Horse of the Year.

3 - GREEN GOLD RUSH finished third by 14 lengths behind current Horse of the Year Atomica and Is That A Fact in The Viceroy Trophy over nine furlongs on April 1. Green Gold Rush is currently enjoying the best form of his career at age seven, and has to be given a chance of winning.

4 - STOMP THE RHYTHM is a capable runner who is returning to competitive racing after a 230-day break. His last race was on September 10, 2023, when he finished in fifth position by 10 lengths behind Blue Vinyl in the Kenneth Mattis Memorial Trophy over tomorrow’s distance. Stomp The Rhythm should play his part. Note that Stomp The Rhythm races with the tongue tie off.

5 - BIG BIG DADDY is not expected to be a contender and can be safely bypassed.
