One Don comes through in Caymanas Saturday eighth as trainer Gary Subratie continues winning streak

SPLITS: 23.2 x 45.4 x 1:12.4 FINAL TIME: 1:42.0

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Although the final time of 1:42.0 is nothing to brag about, One Don provided a much-needed win for the Don Wehby led Oakridge Farms in the Caymanas Saturday eighth.

It was the 4-5 odds-on favourite Taurus Boy, a US import like One Don who carried fast splits of 23.2 x 45.4 on the lead with the little used Kerry-Gayl Robinson in his back.

Circling the four-furlong bend, Taurus Boy was still in front tracked by Bern Notice (Omar Walker) and One Don (Dane Dawkins).

Taurus Boy gave way in the straight as both Bern Notice and One Don trained by Gary Subratie made their moves. One Don took over but was never allowed to settle as a determined Bern Notice was not giving up.

In the final yardage, Bern Notice produced a late push but One Don held on for his first win by a neck. Third went to the slow starting Johncrowjeff.
