KINGSTON, Jamaica – Hover Craft now 10 years-old had to fight hard, something he has done for his long and distinguished career, to earn his 17th career victory in the fifth of nine races on today’s (September 5) programme at Caymanas Park a short while ago.
In the field of nine running over 9 furlongs and 25 yards in an Optional Claimer ($850,000 - $800,000), Hover Craft with Anthony Thomas in the saddle watched from fifth place as Dick Cardenas sent Dezzy The Genius in front followed by Coralando (Tevin Foster) and Pakman (Omar Walker).
Dezzy The Genius increased his lead on the backstretch and turned for home with the advantage.
Hover Craft and Thomas took a while to get rolling on the outside and when they did it was still not sure whether or not they would get the job done.
With Thomas pumping hard, the tough knocking Hover Craft now moving fluently caught-up with Dezzy The Genuis close to home – to win by just three-parts-of a length.
Dezzy The Genius was second and Royal Vibes third.
Hover Craft trained by Wayne DaCosta was racing for the 117th occasion.
