KINGSTON, Jamaica – After finishing second in the first two races on today’s Caymanas card, jockey Dick Cardenas went one better when he won the third contest on 4-5 odds on favourite Eddie’s Princess.
Cardenas broke well but kept Eddie's Princess behind the leaders while sticking to the inside rails in the $550,000 - $500,000 claimer for three-year-olds and upwards going 6 ½ furlongs.
In the run for home, Cardenas had little to do as he kept Eddie’s Princess trained by Donovan Plummer up to his work to win by close to four lengths.
Chief of State (Dane Nelson) was second and Mr Pantheon third.
This was Cardenas’ 12th winner since his recent return to race riding in Jamaica while trainer Plummer was winning his fifth of the season.
