KINGSTON, Jamaica – Ringing into his qualities of strength and determination, former champion jockey Anthony Thomas had to dig deep to claim victory in the fifth race at Caymanas Park aboard 8-5 chance De Inevitable.

De Inevitable released the maiden tag in condition race restricted to four-year-olds and upwards at a distance of seven furlongs. This was De Inevitable’s, trained by veteran Collin Ferguson second career start.

A full field of 16 faced the starter in this contest with the leaders changing hands several times in the first three furlongs.

It was then that Thomas rushed De Inevitable to the front and opened up two to three lengths on his 15 other rivals.

Jockey Trevor Johnson at this time brought Thunderstrike with a strong run while coming around the final bend.

In the straight, De Inevitable (on the inside) was passed by Thunderstrike but Thomas would have none of it and in a driving surge to the line, Thomas and De Inevitable was able to get home by a short head.

Thunderstrike was second with third going to Hard Working Man (Oshane Nugent).
