The curtain rises on the ten-race programme of Saturday, May 30, 2026, with a maiden special weight event reserved for three-year-olds. Eleven hopefuls have been declared to contest this seven-furlong call, a distance that often separates the genuine contenders from those still finding their footing.

The Quick Galloper’s assessment is presented in draw order.

1 – BARBQ

Bay colt (April 18) by Bern Identity out of Dee-Q

Trainer – Anthony Smith

Jockey – Tajay Suckoo

After eight starts, Barbq has finally begun to piece together the puzzle of competitive racing. His most recent effort, a strong second over five furlongs straight behind Tom Strong, suggested maturity and stamina progression. Stretching to seven furlongs should suit him, and his consistency makes him a live contender. One to watch closely.

2 – CITY OF DREAMS

Bay colt (April 10) by Take Charge Indy out of Ghostly Direction

Trainer – Peter-John Parsard

Jockey – Raddesh Roman

Debuted on April 4, finishing third behind Rockhampton and Eye of the Tiger, both of whom have franked the form. City of Dreams has been sharpening in morning gallops and appears poised to build on that initial effort. With natural improvement expected, he is going to play a significant role in the outcome.

3 – FRATELLANZA

Bay colt (March 18) by Gunnevera out of Hal’s Mischief

Trainer – Dalton Sirjue

Jockey – Jaheim Anderson

This bred in utero colt makes his first appearance. Reports from the exercise track suggest Fratellanza has been moving with purpose and showing promise. While debuting at seven furlongs is a stern test, the moderate nature of the field enhances his chances of making an impression. Not one to dismiss.

4 – NATIVE ISLE

Brown colt (April 3) by Successful Native out of Mary’s Gold

Trainer – Phillip Lee

Jockey – Bebeto Harvey

Native Isle’s lone start on April 3 offered little encouragement, as he failed to threaten. Improvement is required, but based on that effort, he remains an outsider.

5 – PRINCE OF KING

Bay colt (March 21) by Bern Identity out of Awesome Dream

Trainer – Owen Dawes

Jockey – Omar Walker

Equipment – Blinkers and figure 8 on

Prince of King has only one start under his belt, which was underwhelming. The addition of blinkers and a figure 8 suggests the trainer is searching for answers. Still, he appears some way off from troubling the principals.

6 – D.O.K Bay colt (May 2) by Spieth out of Regency

Trainer – Anthony Nunes

Jockey – Shane Richardson

Three starts have yielded little evidence of winning potential. D.O.K continues to struggle to assert himself and will need a dramatic turnaround to feature.

7 – MEDAL OF GOLD

Bay colt (April 13) by Hedge Fund out of Bashybashycamille

Trainer – Marlon Anderson

Jockey – Ramon Nepare

Equipment – Tongue tie on

Despite the equipment adjustment, Medal of Gold has shown little to suggest he belongs among the serious contenders. Safely ruled out of winning calculations.

8 – CATALEYNA

Bay filly (March 6) by Casual Trick out of Unpredictable

Trainer – Michael Marlowe

Jockey – Shaheem Gordon

Equipment – Blinkers off, cheek pieces on

Cataleyna has been struggling to make an impact, but the trainer has opted for equipment changes in hopes of sparking improvement. Whether these adjustments will translate into performance remains uncertain.

9 – BRILLIANT BOY

Chestnut colt (April 29) by Bern Identity out of Mete-Orite

Trainer – Anthony Nunes

Jockey – Romario Spencer

Equipment – Blinkers on

Five starts have seen Brilliant Boy well beaten, and the addition of blinkers may not be enough to reverse his fortunes. Expectations remain low.

10 – WAH A GWAAN

Bay colt (February 13) by Aveenu Malcainu out of She’s Irie

Trainer – Christopher Pierre

Jockey – Tevin Foster

Eight starts have produced six runner-up finishes, a record of consistency that makes Wah A Gwaan a major player. The lingering question is whether he can finally break through and sustain his effort over seven furlongs. If he stays, he is a strong candidate for victory.

11 – IMAGINEARIUM

Bay filly (May 27) by Savoy Stomp out of Love The Beach

Trainer – Anthony Nunes

Jockey – Youville Pinnock

Equipment – Cheek pieces on

Imaginearium began her career with promise, finishing fourth twice, but faltered badly in her last outing against fillies only. Facing colts here, she appears outmatched and unlikely to trouble the leaders.
