Impressive victory in Caymanas Saturday third

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Atomica made her Classic intentions very clear with an impressive performance to win the Caymanas Saturday third.

Atomica, a chestnut filly by Nuclear Wayne out of Honkeytonkville trained by Gary Subratie and ridden by Dane Dawkins was successful in three-year-old contest (non-winners of two for locals) and for maiden foreigners going six furlongs.

Atomica was tardy out of her starting stall but was hustled by Dawkins to challenge US-bred Luksol (Anthony Thomas) for the lead. Atomica entered the straight for the final two furlongs of the contest still with the advantage with Luksol close by.

With a furlong and a half left, Atomica blasted away from the rest of the pack to win impressively by six lengths in a final time of 1:13.0. The splits were 22.2 x 46.3.

Luksol was second and Power of Faith third.
