First winner for champion trainer Anthony Nunes in 2022

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Champion trainer Anthony Nunes got rolling in 2022 when he saddled his first winner Pip in the Caymanas Saturday first.

The Caymanas Saturday first was a three-year-old maiden contest at 5 ½ furlongs.

From the gates opened the race developed into a duel between Pip (Robert Halleden) on the inside and Nomoredeals (Dane Dawkins).

Pip, a three-year-old bay colt by Perfect Curlin out of Noon It Is held a slight advantage coming into the straight but drifted out a bit causing Dawkins to switch Nomoredeals to the inside.

In a pulsating final furlong, Pip was just able to thwart the challenge of Nomoredeals winning by a head. Third went to Prince Sanjay (Anthony Thomas).
