KINGSTON, Jamaica – Division Two of a three-year-old maiden call at six furlongs is the seventh race on Sunday, July 9. 2023.

Nine are entered, with The Quick Galloper’s take on the outcome given below.

– SMART PLAYER is a bay colt (May 20) by Wannabeplayer out of Gaza Sheree, trained by Edward Walker with Oshadane Robinson in the saddle. This is the beginning for Smart Player, with this first run providing valuable experience.

– UNCLE SYL is a bay colt (March 13) by Resurgence out of Mama C, trained by Carlton Cunningham with Matthew Bennett aboard. Railbirds say this bay colt will get there in due course but not on Sunday.

– PHENOMENAL ONE is a chestnut colt (March 31) by Lion Tamer out of Darlin, trained by Jason DaCosta with Phillip Parchment in the saddle. Phenomenal One is a difficult one to handle. In his last racing effort, Phenomenal One was slowly out of the starting gates, yet was able to finish well going 5 ½ furlongs, The extra half a furlong will suit Phenomenal One if he behaves himself.

– NORBLAR is a bay colt – bred in utero - (February 20) by Wannabeaplayer out of Special Degree, trained by Gresford Smith with Dane Dawkins aboard. Has been prominent in his two starts to date. Norblar has been going well in the mornings, making him a primary candidate to win this one.

– COALITION is a chestnut colt (April 29) by Wicked Strong out of Misunify, trained by Dale Murphy with Raddesh Roman in the saddle. Missing in action on debut 22 days ago. Will continue to learn.

– CAPTAIN PHILIP is a chestnut colt (April 8) by Hedge Fund out of Kandi With A K, trained by Gary Griffiths with Shamaree Muir aboard. Has done nothing in his six starts to recommend.

– HERE COMES DOC is a bay colt (March 23) by Bern Identity out of Indian Bluff, trained by Gary Griffiths with Oshane Nugent in the saddle. Racing for the second occasion, Here Comes Doc will continue to learn.

– SUPER ALEX is a chestnut colt (February 23) by Admiral Alex out of Jamaican Pharoah, trained by Carl Anderson with Reyan Lewis aboard. Note, Super Alex races with first-time Lasix. Finished second beating Phenomenal One in his last appearance 22 days aback. That was Super Alex’s second race-day effort. Given normal improvement, he now has a major shot of winning.

– SLAM DUNK is a bay colt (March 9) by Sensational Slam out of Akela, trained by Gary Subratie with Richard Henry aboard. Note, Slam Dunk races with the visor off, and with the blinkers and tongue tie on. Slam Dunk has raced five times and has never finished below fourth. Slam Dunk represents the form in this encounter and has to be respected.
