KINGSTON, Jamaica – Division One of a three-year-old maiden call at six furlongs is the fifth race on Sunday, July 9. 2023.

Nine are entered, with The Quick Galloper’s take on the outcome given below.

– ADORABLE J is a chestnut colt (April 10) by Hedge Fund out of Naseen, trained by Dale Murphy with Anthony Thomas aboard. Did nothing on debut on June 14. Nothing much is expected on Sunday.

– NEWLAND LINKS is a bay colt (May 19) by Admiral Alex out of Empress Nicole, trained by Jason DaCosta with Shavon Townsend in the saddle. Showed a semblance of form when coming down the five-straight course when finishing third behind Superio. Newland Links is going to have a say in this one.

– TEXAS METAL is a bay colt (May 10) by Midnight Hawk out of Supem Ago Happen, trained by Omar Williams with Youville Pinnock aboard. Morning watchers are reporting that this newcomer does have some worth, and will get off the mark in due course.

– ROARING THUNDER is a grey colt (April 16) by Spieth out of Little Thunder, trained by Gary Griffiths with Shamaree Muir in the saddle. This colt is always prominent in his races, and usually gives his best in the latter stages of his races. Roaring Thunder has not raced longer than 5 ½ furlongs in his last five starts, making six furlongs to his advantage.

– NUCLEAR CHASER is a grey filly (May 16) by Nuclear Wayne out of Paper Chaser, trained by Robert Ffrench with Tevin Foster aboard. Note, Nuclear Chaser races with the blinkers and the figure 8 on. Still learning the trade.

– UNCLE NUB is a bay colt (June 16) by Nuclear Wayne out of Agnes T, trained by Fitzgerald Richards with Omar Walker in the saddle. This newcomer has attracted a bit of attention from morning watchers, with most saying he has a shot in this one.

– WAR HORSE is a bay colt (February 19) by Smokin Man out of Storm Watch, trained by Margaret Parchment with Devon A Thomas aboard. Note, War Horse races with the visor on. Will not be a factor.

– BABLA is a chestnut colt (April 9) by Midnight Hawk out of Jennandrosesgirl, trained by Richard Azan with Jawara Steadman in the saddle. Note, Babla races with the blinkers off. This chestnut colt has been showing progress in each of his fourth starts to date. Babla has speed and will make an attempt to dictate the pace, and should have enough to get the job done.

– GLITTERING MAGNUM is a bay filly (May 18) by Deputy Glitters out of Runaway Queen, trained by Lorne Kirlew with Paul Francis aboard. Note, Glittering Magnum races with the tongue off, and the figure 8 on, plus first-time Lasix. Did not excite on her debut 36 days ago. Enters her Sunday encounter with a host of equipment changes, and should be watched for a place on the board.
