KINGSTON, Kingston – Yet Again broke the pattern of odds-on favourites obliging in the first two races by winning the Caymanas Saturday third as a 5-1 chance.
Ridden by Matthew Bennett for trainer Patrick Lynch, Yet Again racing for the first time since November of last year, was successful in a five-year-old and upwards restricted allowance call (non-winners of three races) going six furlongs.
When the horses settled after the gates opened, it was Adwa (Nicholas Hibbert) who was the first to show, but that advantage was short-lived as Thepowersthatbe (Phillip Parchment) went by. At this stage Bennett was content to hold Yet Again far behind the leaders.
In the last two furlongs Yet Again swooped by all rivals while making a sharp move from the middle of the track to the inside rails. The duo of Bennett and Yet Again had to dig deep as 32-1 chance Justsaytheword (Ruja Lahoe) ran on strongly but there was no more real estate to work with.
Thepowersthatbe finished third.
The exacta with Yet Again and Justsaytheword paid $16,268 and the quinella $9,700.
