KINGSTON, Jamaica – The 2025 Jamaica St Leger will be contested on Sunday, July 6, 2025.

The Jamaica St Leger is the second jewel in the Triple Crown series of races and is for three-year-olds, going the two-turns of 10 furlongs.

As part of its coverage, this website goes back to the 2024 edition to find out the progress or lack thereof of the 11 participants.

FIRST: INTRESNTIMESAHEAD – Could not find the exhilarating form he produced in the St Leger in the Jamaica Derby a month later. Raced in the Mouttet Mile finishing 11th – eleven lengths adrift of the winner. After the Mouttet Mile, Intrestntimesahead’s progress was hindered by health issues which saw him making his race day return on May 3, 2025 at the Overnight Allowance level. Interestntimesahead then went on to notch his sixth success from 13 starts on May 23 and is now racing at the Open Allowance grade. From his 13 race day appearances, Intrestntimesahead has earned just over $9 million.

SECOND: CROWN CHASER – After an encouraging second place finish in the St Leger where his affinity for the longer distances was well advertised, Crown Chaser reached the pinnacle of an three-year-old career when he won the Blue Riband, Jamaica Derby. Since then, Crown Chaser has not been able to find the winners’ enclosure. He too has been hampered by injuries which has limited his competitive efforts. Thankfully Crown Chaser is working in the mornings.

THIRD: RUN JULIE RUN – Finished a close second in the Jamaica Derby. Run Julie Run chose the Chairman’s Plate instead of the Mouttet Mile (December 7, 2024), winning in style. In 2025, Run Julie Run has raced on six occasions, winning twice. All four defeats in 2025 by Run Julie Run, has been at the hoofs of foreigners, Commandant, Barnaby, Commandant and Funcaandun. To date, Run Julie Run has evolved as the leader of her three-year-old batch. Thus far, Run Julie Run has had 20 starts with seven victories and earnings of approximately $13.7 million.

FOURTH: PROVIDENT – Following placing positions in almost all of the Classic races, Provident failed to make much progress. Then after a long break from January 1, 2o25 to May 25, Provident returned in rejuvenated mood. In four starts since May 25, Provident has wracked up three wins to complete his conditions, reaching Overnight Allowance. His progress will be followed.

FIFTH: CAPTAIN SPARROW – Has raced three times in 2025, with no victory to his credit. Captain Sparrow last success was achieved on December 24, 2024. He is now campaigning at the non-winners of four level.

SIXTH: ALLEGIANCE – Holds the distinction of reaching Overnight Allowance, where after five attempts, he has failed to add to his winning tally of four. Allegiance will in time score in Overnight.

SEVENTH: CALIFORNIA CROWN – Prompted the pace in the St Leger, California Crown had to wait until January 4, 2025, to reap another victory, since then this chestnut colt has won in Overnight and again on June 21. California Crown now holds a career record of six wins from 12 starts and earnings of approximately $5.5 million.

EIGHTH: BRENDA BOY – Has been taking his time to complete his conditions, recording his third and last success on January 26. Brenda Boy recently moved from the barn of Victor Williams to champion, Jason DaCosta.

NINTH: MACK AND ROME – Has not built successfully on his earlier promise.

TENTH: KING PIYE – Still pinging around.

ELEVENTH: SUPREMASI – It was a disappointing run by Supermasi in the St Leger. Supremasi has since reached Overnight Allowance where he has raced five times without winning. Supremasi came close on Sunday, June 29, when he was nicked by foreigner Girvano. Supremasi will no doubt win in Overnight to add to his career statistics of four wins from 14 starts.
