KINGSTON, Jamaica – With the first two-year-old race of the 2025 racing season set for Saturday, August 2.
This year’s Cradle Stakes has attracted eight starters on the Overnight program compared with five last year of which one was declared a late non-starter at the gates.
The Quick Galloper goes back in time to check on the progress or lack thereof of the four starters in the 2024 Cradle Stakes.
FIRST: MISS MONEYPENNY - Went on to on to win at the non-two level; yet has been languishing at non-three for a while. She shows flashes of promise as a sprinter and may eventually clear her current conditions, though long-term prospects appear dim.
SECOND: PLATINUM PRINCESS – Still actively training, Platinum Princess remains in search of her true form. Though she continues to put in the work, tangible results have yet to materialise.
THIRD: BADGAL CHELSEA – Badgal Chelsea has since faded from the racing scene. With sparse sightings and little on the scoreboard, a turnaround seems increasingly unlikely.
FOURTH: BADGAL CALEESI - Far from contending, Badgal Caleesi has yet to sniff the winners’ enclosure. Her journey remains a distant trot from the finish line.
NOTE: Lovisa reached the starting gates but was declared a late non-starter. Lovisa has since been retired to stud.
