Cistron completely dominated Saturday's Grade II, US$200,000 Kona Gold Stakes at Santa Anita, as he whistled 6 ½ furlongs on the main track in 1:16.33 while winning by 5 ¼ lengths under Victor Espinoza. Trained by John Sadler, the 5-year-old horse by The Factor notched his first graded stakes win in his 25th career start.
Breaking from the number two post position in a field of five 3-year-olds and up, Cistron, who is out of the Officer mare Major Allie, broke like a shot and was dominant throughout as he carved out rapid splits of 22.07, 44.70 and 1:09.57.
