KINGSTON, Jamaica - A competitive field of eight two-year-old runners has been nominated to compete in the 5 ½ furlong Front Runner Sprint tomorrow at Caymanas Park. The event is for maidens and is to be competed for over five-and-a-half furlongs.

Of the eight, four are first-timers, Above and Beyond, Fearless Champion, Nipster and Big Mama.

The following is an analysis of the eight horses in the Front Runner.

1 – CHANAE: (2-y-o ch f – Legal Process – Royal Train) – The seasoned one in this field of eight but Chanae has not shown anything of worth in her three starts to date. That situation is bound to continue tomorrow against these.

2 – VERSATILE VISION: (2-y-o b f – Fearless Vision – Chinitagoodaz) – Seems to have been programmed for this particular cup race. Versatile Vision made her debut on September 25 in a six-furlong encounter finishing second, 6 ½ lengths behind Another Commander. In her last exercise gallop before tomorrow’s race, Versatile Vision clocked 1:00.2 for five furlongs galloping with her stablemate Yet Again. Versatile Vision is coming to run and with the one effort under her girth plus the administering of first time Lasix, this bay filly has a good chance of carrying home the Front Runner Trophy for her connections.

3 – FEARLESS CHAMPION: (2-y-o ch c – Fearless Vision – Granville Greta) – First timer who has been developing nicely on the exercise track in preparation for this race. Paired against Rojorn Di Pilot in his last gallop, Fearless Champion was timed at 1:08.2 for 5 ½ furlongs. Fearless Vision is going to release the maiden tag quickly but just not in the Front Runner. Let’s wait and see.

4 – NIPSTER: (2-y-o b c - Casual Trick – Nippit) – Another of the first time starters participating in this trophy race. Based on reports from morning gallops, Nipster while a nice looking colt might not be advanced enough to win this one. Let’s wait and watch though as this is horse racing.

5 – BIG MAMA: (2-y-o ch f – Deputy Glitters – Twist and Turn) – This filly hits the track for her debut run in the Front Runner. Big Mama clocked 48.3 seconds for four furlongs working with Tomohawk as her exercise companion in her last gallop but is going to need more time to show her true worth.

6 – TASK FORCE: (2-y-o b f – Casual Trick – Eighteen Karat) – Has had two career starts thus far, one going four furlongs and the other five furlongs round and both times Task Force finished third. He was just half-a-length behind second-place K D Rocket on his second start. K D Rocket has subsequently gone on to convincingly release the maiden tag and if Task Force can repeat that performance tomorrow, then winning is a real possibility.

7 – ABOVE AND BEYOND: (2-y-o ch f – Blue Pepsi Lodge – Rumble) – Newcomer who needs time to get into her stride.

8 – POWERMAN: (2-y-o ch f – Dayton Flyer – Gold Prince) – Even racing with the visor on, Powerman is going to be overpowered by his two-year-old rivals.
