Trainers’ Day on Saturday next, Robert Darby Snr, Harry Parsard to be honoured

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Saturday’s (November 17), race day which features 10 races is dedicated to trainers as the United Racehorse Trainers of Jamaica (URTAJ), honours conditioners for the part they have played in racing.

Two trainers who have advanced to greener pastures above, Robert ‘The Claiming King’ Darby Snr and Harry Parsard are to be given special recognition on the day with trophy races named after them.

In addition to eight races being named after trainers, the URTAJ plans giveaways not only for trainers but to include grooms, jockeys and owners. A cash incentive of $15,000 is to be given to the trainers who win the three claiming races on offer.

The feature race is the URTAJ Trophy – a Restricted Stakes event going over nine furlongs and 25 yards (1,820m) for a total purse of $900,000.
