KINGSTON, Jamaica – Long-standing horse trainer Arnold Rambally Jr, a stalwart of the Jamaican racing circuit, is experiencing a well-earned resurgence after years of navigating the unforgiving terrain of the sport.
Known for his determination, Rambally has recently returned to the winners’ enclosure with three victories—two courtesy of the consistent Money Box and one from the promising US import, Florindia.
MONEY BOX DELIVERS BACK-TO-BACK WINS
Money Box, a five-year-old campaigner, reignited Rambally’s fortunes with a commanding win on June 28 in a non-winners-of-two event for horses aged five and up. Ridden by the ever-reliable Raddesh Roman, the gelding showed grit and maturity, when crossing the finish line first.
Just two weeks later, on July 13, Money Box stepped up to the non-winners-of-three level and proved his mettle once again. Sent off at odds of 5-1, he surged past his rivals with authority, winning by a comfortable three-length margin—Roman once again guiding him to victory.
FLORINDIA SHINES BRIGHT
If Money Box’s wins were a testament to experience, Florindia’s triumph was a glimpse into the future. The four-year-old brown filly, racing for only the second time on July 12 with a dominant performance in a non-winners-of-four contest over six furlongs. With Roman in the irons, Florindia won by five lengths, stopping the clock at 1:14.2.
Trainer Rambally was visibly elated with the filly’s performance. “I am particularly pleased with Florindia. She’s a lovely filly who is developing nicely. As long as she stays healthy, I believe she has a lot more to offer,” he shared.
STABLE GROWTH AND RENEWED OPTIMISM
Beyond the recent victories, Rambally is optimistic about the trajectory of his stables. “It feels great to have achieved these three wins in such a short span. These results have definitely helped to boost the morale and fortunes of the barn,” he said.
Currently housing eight horses, Rambally’s stable is growing—a marked improvement from recent years. “I’m committed to putting in the work to ensure continued success. The goal is to build on this momentum and keep moving forward,” he added.
