The feature event at Caymanas Park on Saturday, September 13, 2025, is the Thunderbird Trophy, an Open Allowance contest for three-year-olds and up going seven furlongs.

With eight declared starters, The Quick Galloper breaks down the field to assess form, conditions, and potential outcomes.

 1 – SUPERNATURAL POWER

Few horses have made a bigger impact in 2025 than Supernatural Power. With five wins from six starts, she’s shown a consistent ability to dominate from the front. Her most recent success came in Overnight Allowance company, where she dispatched Florindia by 2½ lengths over 5½ furlongs. However, her record at seven furlongs is less convincing—only one attempt, and it resulted in defeat. That race remains one of just two career losses. Supernatural Power’s style is to go to the lead and control the tempo, but against older, more seasoned runners over a longer trip, her front-running approach will be tested. She’s talented, but this assignment asks new questions.

2 – MAHOGANY

Now eight years old, Mahogany continues to show up, but the edge that once made him a top-tier threat has dulled. He’s no longer able to match strides with younger, sharper contenders. In this field, Mahogany is likely to be outpaced and outclassed.

3 – MAMMA MIA

A busy campaign in 2025 has seen Mamma Mia race 12 times, with two wins to show for it. She’s often used to fill out fields where more accomplished stablemates take centre stage. That appears to be the case again here. While she’s honest, she’s not expected to factor in the final outcome.

4 – RHYTHM BUZZ

Racing with consistency but not quite at the level required to win this, Rhythm Buzz is likely to be competitive in the closing stages. He’s known for finishing well, and while a win is unlikely, he could be involved in the minor placings if the race unfolds to suit his late kick.

5 – GIRVANO

One of the more intriguing entrants, Girvano made headlines by defeating Horse of the Year Funcaandun over nine furlongs and 25 yards. That performance marked him as a rising force in Open Allowance company. However, the handicappers responded with a punishing 25-pound increase. That weight hike significantly compromises his chances here, especially over a shorter trip where tactical speed matters more than stamina.

6 – FEARLESS SOUL

Recent form offers little encouragement. Fearless Soul has struggled to make an impact and faces a steep climb against this group. He’s likely to trail the field.

7 – TIZ TOK

Tiz Tok’s last outing on July 26 was underwhelming, finishing fourth behind Funcaandun, Desert of Malibu, and Is That A Fact. However, his win on June 7 over this same seven-furlong distance showed promise, where he closed strongly to edge Digital One. The nine-pound weight increase is softened by the apprentice claim, and the removal of blinkers suggests a tactical shift. If he gets the right setup, Tiz Tok could be a factor late.

8 – IS THAT A FACT

His recent second-place finish in the None Such Sprint behind Legacy Isle was encouraging. He’s proven over seven furlongs and has the ability to stalk the pace and strike in the stretch. If the early fractions are quick, Is That A Fact could be the one to capitalize. He’s well-positioned to deliver a strong performance.

THE QUICK GALLOPER’S VERDICT

The seven-furlong distance and the composition of the field suggest a race shaped by pace and positioning. Supernatural Power will likely go to the front, but her stamina at this trip remains a question. Girvano’s weight assignment is a major obstacle, and Mahogany, Mamma Mia, and Fearless Soul appear outmatched.

Tiz Tok and Rhythm Buzz could be late threats, like IS THAT A FACT. This is a race in which any number can play.  stands out as the horse most likely to benefit from a contested pace and deliver a winning run in the stretch. He’s proven at the distance, comes in with solid form, and has the tactical versatility to adapt.
