RACE ONE – This bottom value claimer provided trainer Errol ‘Little Sub’ Subratie and jockey Roger Hewitt with another winner in what has been a better season thus far for the two professionals. It was win number five for ‘Little Sub’ from only 24 starts, while Hewitt was claiming win number 13 from 238 rides.
RACE TWO – Ridewiththemob came good in another case where an equipment change, racing with the tongue tie on, made a difference to the outcome. A win for former champion jockey Chris Mamdeen who is underwhelming at this stage in his career. Not so for the trainer of Ridewiththemob, Nicholas Smith. The young conditioner is finding his way in a highly competitive endeavour. Ridewiththemob was Smith’s seventh in 2022 from, 51 starts.
RACE THREE – Old stager Balazo wracked up win number 12 from 62-lifetime starts. Balazo has now earned close to $7 million.
RACE FOUR – A very interesting event involving one the winner, and two, the second placed horse. Winner Rubyistheone, off the grid for 230 days returned to make it win number one from only her second outing. A noble training feat for her conditioner champion Anthony Nunes. Finishing second was Dujour with Anthony Thomas in the saddle. Dujour lost by 1 ¾ lengths racing from the one draw, after leading for most of the way, as Thomas in his wisdom decided, as is usually the case with most riders to track across to mid-track, moving even further. This logic of cutting across the was put asunder in two races to come.
RACE FIVE – Market Place made a triumphant debut for jockey Aaron Chatrie and trainer Gresford Smith at four furlongs. What was of special importance, came in the saddle by Chatrie. In a field of ten starters coming down the straight, the veteran reinsman drawn at one did not attempt to cut across the track. Instead, Chatrie on the newcomer, kept a straight course, with no other intention but to stick to the longtime fact: that for most times, the fastest way to complete a distance is a straight line.
RACE SIX – A run-of-the-mill win for Lord of Ajahlon to concretize the association of jockey Shane Ellis and owner, trainer, and breeder Carl Anderson.
RACE SEVEN – Fourteen horses were in this contest at four furlongs. Johncrowjeff, returning from a rest 420 days, having last raced on June 5, 2021, was drawn at post-position number two, with his jockey Jerome Innis sticking to a straight line with no movement across the track. Kudos to leading trainer Jason DaCosta. This was Innis' first win since a bad fall last March.
RACE EIGHT – A walk in the park for She’s A Wonder at the Overnight Allowance level. Trainer Ian Parsard celebrated his 200th career victory.
RACE NINE – The enigmatic former Derby winner King Arthur decided it was his time to win again, on this occasion the seven-furlong Eros Trophy. A well-judged ride by Anthony Thomas who made use of the small space presented to him on the inside rails and had to overcome the surge of another Derby winner, Calculus. It was win number 10 for King Arthur from 32 starts with earnings now surpassing $11 million. Second winner on the day for trainer Jason DaCosta.
RACE TEN – Seems as if jockey Dick Cardenas rides at least one winner every race day with the trend continuing aboard the Al Brown-trained True Al Sky.
