Pitted against a seasoned field of multiple winners, the son of Tunwoo out of Ribbing relied on his well-advertised speed to elevate his career ledger to four wins from seven starts, boosting his overall earnings close to the $3 million mark.
Conditioned by trainer Jason DaCosta and guided from gate three by jockey Shaheem Gordon, Pepper Stepper made full use of his early zip. He broke sharply, drifted smoothly to mid-track, and gradually broke away from the chasing pack, crossing the wire an unthreatened three lengths clear.
