KINGSTON, Jamaica - The three-year-old and upwards Open Allowance/Graded Stakes Port Royal Sprint is one of three major trophy events to be contested on the Jamaica Day race programme tomorrow (Saturday, November 12, 2022) at Caymanas Park. The six-furlong (1,200m) event has attracted eight runners vying for a total purse of $2.5 million.

Below is an analysis of each runner.

  1. EL PROFESOR: (7 b g by Casual Trick – The Principal) — Shows up every now and then with surprising runs. El Profesor’s last two efforts have been disappointing and so he cannot get any winning recommendations.
  1. EXCESSIVE FORCE (USA): (5 ch h by Broken Vow – Fevered Kiss) — Excessive Force returns from a break of 174 days. Will need the run, plus he has to overcome his habit of going wide on the turns.
  1. EAGLE ONE (USA): (5 b g Astrology – Frisky Cheerleader) – Lost form in recent times. Eagle One, on his best day, can beat these and a good effort is expected come Saturday.
  1. I’VE GOT MAGIC (USA): (4 b c by Fast Anna – Lil Miss Richie) — Another one coming off a long break - 105 days. I’ve Got Magic has been busy at exercise and he enters the Port Royal well prepared for action. Based on previous form cannot be denied a reasonable chance of winning.
  1. MADELYN’S SUNSHINE (USA): (3 dk b/br f by Joe’s Son Joey – Madelyn’s Finest) – Scratched out of her last race on October 29. Madelyn’s Sunshine has been nothing but brilliant on her way to this level, winning four races from five career starts. Madelyn’s Sunshine should find these holding few terrors and is the worthy favourite going to Port Royal.
  1. DUKE: (6 gr h by Casual Trick – Lady MacBeth) – Ran a brilliant race to win the Cash Pot “Super Dash” Trophy over 5 furlongs round on October 29. Duke won by 3 ¾ lengths in a time of 59.3 for the distance. Based on his running style, Duke is going to enjoy the six furlongs of the Port Royal even better and his final rattle in deep stretch could prove hard to withstand.
  1. CURLIN’S AFFAIR: ( 4 ch c by Perfect Curlin – Nuclear Affair) – Finished a good third behind Duke going 5 furlongs round on October 29. Curlin’s Affair is going to appreciate this extended trip and is expected to run well once again.
  1. RACE CAR (USA): (5 g/rn h by Race Day – McDuffie) – Finished down the track in the recent Gold Cup run. Little or no improvement is expected from Race Car here.
