KINGSTON, Jamaica – Former champion jockey Shane Ellis got the Caymanas Saturday (March 13) first off to a good start for punters after guiding 2-1 chance Scoobert to victory.

Trained by Dennis Pryce, Scoobert coming from the outside draw swooped down to take the lead from the 8-5 favourite Ashley’s Glory with co-champion jockey Anthony Thomas doing the riding duties after the first furlong.

Scoobert entered the straight with the lead and was never challenged thereafter. Adwa (Nicholas Hibbert) also starting at 2-1 was second with Nez Perce (Tevin Foster) occupying the third slot.

Scoobert was winning for the second time from 21 career starts.
