KINGSTON, Jamaica – The talk was fluttering around the race track from early this morning (August 30) that ‘Salvation’ would arrive in the third race on the Sunday card currently being run at Caymanas Park.
Drawn on the outside with jockey Oneil Mullings in the saddle in a five straight offering for three-year-old maidens, Salvation just had to keep up with the pace setters before accelerating after passing the dummy rails to earn a facile win by 9 ½ lengths.
Bred by Blue Pepsi Lodge – My Morning Prayer, Salvation provided trainer Philip Feanny with his fifth winner this season and it was the third for Mullings.
Persistent One (Ruja Lahoe) was second at 99-1 with 4-5 odds on favourite Ocean Wave third.
The exacta paid a whopping $64,224 while both the Superfecta and the Hi-5 were not caught and both have large carryovers.
