Fifty Cents takes the Sunday first for Dick Cardenas and trainer Dennis Lee

KINGSTON, Jamaica – After failing yesterday (Sat, August 29) to land a winner, jockey Dick Cardenas found his way to the winner’ enclosure in the first of 10 races on the Sunday card currently in progress at Caymanas Park.

Riding Fifty Cents for trainer Dennis Lee in an Optional Claiming event ($250,000 - $200,000) run over five furlongs round, Cardenas kept off the pace before striking against leader Princess Statistic in the home stretch.

Fifty Cents got the better of Princess Statistic by 1 ¼ lengths.

Ballerina Steel was third.
