KINGSTON, Jamaica – The feature event on today’s Sunday racing programme, the Roderick ‘Pilot’ Francis Memorial Trophy was taken in fine style by Reassurance.
This was the third of eight races on tap – a $250,000 - $200,000 Optional Claimer for three-year-olds and upwards run over six furlongs.
Jockey Javaniel Patterson who before today had won five times aboard Reassurance allowed the chestnut mare to settle behind leader Princess Statistic before starting to push with 2 ½ furlong to go in the contest.
Patterson, had to go wide when entering the straight, to avoid traffic issues, and then he got the Ryan Darby trainee in top flight and it was easy as Reassurance went by the leaders without a fuss to win by 2 ½ lengths.
Instagram (Aaron Chatrie) ran on for second at 66-1 with Thenextbigthing third.
