KINGSTON, Jamaica – Trainer Lee Clarke made a rare visit to the winner’s circle when his four-year-old bay filly Purposely won the Caymanas Saturday third.

Purposely was winning for the first time (four-year-olds and upwards maiden condition) going a distance of seven furlongs.

Jockey Omar Walker on Purposely jostled for the lead with the 2-5 on favourite Bin Laden with Youville Pinnock in the saddle after the starter pressed his button.

It was a fight for the lead between the aforementioned two horses until Walker pushed Purposely into the lead with three furlong left to go. It was a lead which she never relinquished winning by 2 ½ lengths.

Mighty Chelsea (Jemar Jackson) ran on for second with Bin Laden third.
