KINGSTON, Jamaica – In a dogged performance usually associated with more matured horses, Great Britt racing for the first time won the Caymanas Saturday fourth in a driving finish.

Great Britt, bred by Traditional – Crucial Cat was successful in a three-year-old maiden special weight at five furlongs round.

With Christopher Mamdeen in the saddle for trainer Carl Anderson, Great Britt was pushed down from the outside to join the early leader Rocket Lily (Omar Walker).

The two were locked together entering the lane with Rocket Lily pointing a furlong out. In his usual swashbuckling style, Mamdeen kept the roan filly up to her work, and she responded with a last-ditch effort which saw her getting home by a neck over the 1-2 Rocket Lilly in the final yardage.

Letters In Gold (Tevin Foster) finished third.
