KINGSTON, Jamaica – Trainer Robert Pearson has confirmed that his prized three-year-old filly Our Angel will be prepared for the Jamaica Oaks following her impressive win in the St Leger Day (July 2, 2022) eighth event.
“Our Angel did well today (Saturday, July 2, 2022), she is bred to stay, making the 10 furlongs of the Oaks right up her street,” Pearson said.
The young trainer further stated that success in the Oaks, a race for three-year-old fillies only, will, however, be dependent on whether crack filly Atomica starts or not.
“Obviously, Atomica is currently the leading filly among the three-year-olds. She is an outstanding horse, who would have quite a presence in the Oaks. We have to wait and see if Atomica will start in the Oaks or not. I am priming my horse to race in the Oaks,” Pearson shared with this website.
Our Angel (Reyan Lewis) earned her second success in a non-winners of two call at seven furlongs. Lewis kept Our Angel in third place behind the expected leader She’s Fantastic (Omar Walker) and Thirtyonekisses (Jordan Barrett).
She’s Fantastic was still going strong in the straight, with Our Angel making her decisive run with a furlong and a half to go. When Our Angel made her call, She’s Fantastic was left behind paving the way for Silent Mission (Anthony Thomas), recovering from a poor start, to run on for second place.
