The ninth of eleven races on Boxing Day, Friday, December 26, 2025, is the Boxing Day Sprint. Seven horses are entered in the event, which is for three-year-olds and up at the Overnight Allowance level. The race will be contested over 6 ½ furlongs.
Below is The Quick Galloper’s assessment of the seven starters.
1 – SUPREMASI
Ran well when finishing fourth after a slow start, just 4 ¼ lengths behind Of A Revolution in the Bruceontheloose Sprint on December 6. Although carrying eight pounds more this time, the booking of top jockey Dane Nelson could provide the edge needed for Supremasi to secure his second win from 12 starts in 2025.
2 – MONEY MARKET
Showed his quality in the Bruceontheloose Sprint, finishing second only two lengths behind Of A Revolution. With speed expected on Boxing Day, Money Market should run his usual race, tracking the leaders before making his move in the straight. Fit and consistent, he has finished in the frame in seven of his last eight starts at both Open and Overnight Allowance levels, and will be tough to beat.
3 – HUNTSMAN
A determined runner who always gives his best. Huntsman may find this company challenging but should still be capable of finishing among the minor placings.
4 – COMMANDER Z
Winless from six starts in 2025, Commander Z faces a difficult assignment here. He has not raced beyond six furlongs in some time and much prefers the straight course, making this extended sprint a tough ask.
5 – A GIFT FROM BEN
This mare has endured a disappointing season, failing to finish in the top three from nine starts in 2025. She is unlikely to play a significant role in this contest.
6 – MAJOR DANGER
Still searching for a win after nine starts this year. Now with a new barn, Major Danger needs more time to settle before delivering his best.
7 – FIRECRACKER
Absent since September 20, when she won at the non-four level. Firecracker now steps up to Overnight Allowance for the first time. Even with the visor added, her best chance appears to be a minor placing.
THE QUICK GALLOPER’S VERDICT
The Boxing Day Sprint is expected to centre around Money Market, who brings consistency, fitness, and proven form. Supremasi, with Dane Nelson aboard, is the main danger and could strike if the pace collapses. Huntsman and Firecracker are likely to fight for minor spots, while the others will need significant improvement to challenge.
Top Pick: Money Market - Main Threat: Supremasi - Board Chances: Huntsman, Firecracker.
