Make You Choice In 3-Year-Old Maiden Call

THREE YEAR OLD 2025 - 56 89

Eight three-year-old maidens line up for the seventh race on Saturday’s card, set at 7 ½ furlongs.

With a mix of fillies and colts still searching for their first win, this extended sprint offers a testing ground for stamina and maturity.

Several runners are stepping up in trip, while others bring experience but lack finishing punch.

Below is The Quick Galloper’s assessment of each competitor.

1 – DREAMER

Dreamer is a chestnut filly (April 5) by Soul Warrior out of Starofthetown, trained by Phillip Elliott with Youville Pinnock riding. Not even the administration of first-time Lasix will aid the cause of this filly, who from two lifetime starts has done nothing to suggest that winning is a possibility.

2 – ROYAL MAVERICK

Royal Maverick is a bay colt (January 31) by Casual Trick out of Peyton’s Delight, trained by Patrick Lynch with Raddesh Roman in the saddle. This colt has started to find his way, hitting the board in his last three outings. His worst performances have come over distances of seven furlongs and longer. Will have to find more in order to win this one.

3 – HE’S SENSATIONAL

He’s Sensational is a chestnut colt (March 17) by Sensational Slam out of Sheer Madness, trained by Alford Brown with Shaheem Gordon aboard. He’s Sensational has been knocking on the door but is yet to deliver. On Saturday, his chances have been bolstered by the trainer taking off the visor and putting on the figure eight.

 4 – PAPI USO

Papi Uso is a bay colt (March 22) by Casual Trick out of Runallday, trained by Anthony Nunes with Dick Cardenas the nominated jockey. Papi Uso is one of the more experienced of this lot with twelve starts in the credit bank. Has not raced longer than 6 ½ furlongs in his last eight starts, yet Papi Uso should have no issues going 7 ½ furlongs.

5 – MINEOLA

Mineola is a bay filly (March 5) by Casual Trick out of Sweet Trail, trained by Jason DaCosta with Robert Halledeen at the reins. Despite showing some sort of improvement in her last two outings, Mineola has been a source of major disappointment. Even with the figure eight now on, Mineola cannot be truly trusted.

6 – PRINCE OGILVEY

Prince Ogilvey is a bay colt (April 25) by Storm Craft out of D’Angel, trained by Phillip Lee, with Richie Shakes holding the reins. In his three starts to date, Prince Ogilvey has not indicated that he is ready to play a part in the outcome of this event.

7 – YOU’RE MY SWEETIE

You’re My Sweetie is a chestnut filly (May 21) by Bern Identity out of Mom Rules, trained by Gary Subratie with Dane Dawkins as the designated rider. Slowly showing progress in her five starts to date. Has not raced longer than 6 ½ furlongs, thereby making 7 ½ furlongs a tad difficult.

8 – CHASING MY DREAM

Chasing My Dream is a chestnut filly (March 17) by Seeking My Dream out of Full Throttle, trained by Jason DaCosta with Garvin Harris riding. Still trying to find a way, yet she is far adrift.

THE QUICK GALLOPER’S VERDICT

With most of the field still struggling to find form, the race appears open but tilted toward those showing consistency and adaptability. Papi Uso brings experience and should handle the added distance, making him the most reliable option. He’s Sensational could finally break through with the gear change, while Royal Maverick remains a threat if he can stretch his stamina. The rest will need significant improvement to factor.
