KINGSTON, Jamaica – Gentle Giant got his racing career off to a winning start with a facile victory in a two-year-old maiden special weight contest run over five furlongs straight. This was the seventh race on the Caymanas Park Saturday (Oct 3) card.

Gentle Giant (Northern Giant – Awesome Camille) ridden by leading rider Anthony Thomas and trained by Wayne DaCosta had it easy from the moment the starter pushed the button to signal the start of the race.

With long loping strides, Gentle Giant under mainly a hand ride from Thomas moved further and further away from his competitors to win by 6 ½ lengths in a good clocking of 1:00.0.

Second went to Jahsendblessings with Letters In Gold occupying the third slot.

The win by Thomas now puts him eight ahead of Dane Nelson in the jockeys' championship.
