Javaniel Patterson takes early lead among jockeys with 2nd New Year’s Day winner

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jockey Javaniel Patterson guided Foot Soldier to a facile victory over 9 furlongs and 25 yards in a $180-claiming event – the McKay Security Limited Trophy, to earn his second win on the day.
By winning two races after six on the 9-race New Year’s Day card currently in progress at Caymanas Park, Patterson has taken an early lead among his colleagues in the jockeys' championship.
Foot Soldier won at odds of 3-5 by 10 ½ lengths. Second was Chief Prospect at odds of 2-1 with third Chief Secretariat at 7-1. The winning time was 2:00.3.
