Is There A Parting Of Ways Involving Anthony Nunes, Raddesh Roman?

Two striking observations emerged from the racing weekend of Saturday, June 27 to Sunday, June 28.

On Saturday, trainer Anthony Nunes saddled three winners, Kusmi, Nautical Star, and Another Wow. What caught attention was that none of these horses were partnered by his longtime stable jockey, Raddesh Roman. Instead, Kusmi was guided by Tajay Suckoo, Nautical Star by Omar Walker, and Another Wow by Reyan Lewis.

The trend continued into Sunday. Nunes again topped the trainers’ list with two victories, Miss Grove ridden by Suckoo and Dutchess by Lewis. Roman was absent not only from the winning mounts but from all of Nunes’ runners across both race days.

The Quick Galloper cannot confirm a definitive split between Nunes and Roman, yet the evidence suggests there is a misconnection.

Roman has been the primary rider for Nunes over the past two years or so, but recent race days show a shift. On Saturday, June 20, Nunes saddled another triple, Bowmore (Suckoo), Nebuchadnezzar (Eric Haughton), and Sir Don (Walker). Roman’s sole ride for the stable that day was Dark Authority in race nine.

While no official word has been given, the facts are plain: Roman’s absence from Nunes’ mounts is no coincidence. Whether this signals a parting of ways or a temporary adjustment, the situation is unfolding in full view of the racing public.
