KINGSTON, Jamaica – Even after being slowly out of the gates and with jockey Phillip Parchment stroking his mane in the final part of the contest, In The Blood turned out to be an easy winner of today's (September 5) first race at Caymanas Park.
In The Blood, a four-year-old chestnut gelding trained by veteran Patrick Fong, was victorious in a maiden condition call for four-year-olds and upwards travelling 5 ½ furlongs.
After pulling his way to third place coming around the bend, In The Blood sped away in the stretch run to win by the convincing margin of five lengths.
Second went to Lady Rattapur (Dick Cardenas) with third the position occupied by Denbigh Life.
This was the first winner after 41 starts this year for Fong, while Parchment was earning his seventh.
