KINGSTON, Jamaica – After driving rain which left the racetrack at its sloppiest, King Arthur obviously enjoying the underfoot condition was able to earn his long awaited second victory.
King Arthur gave the emerging alliance of jockey Anthony Thomas and trainer Wayne DaCosta their third win on the Sunday card of 10 races taking place now at Caymanas Park.
King Arthur stayed behind the leaders in fourth spot when the gates opened in the 6 ½ furlongs contest for three-year-olds non-winners of two.
The lead at that stage passed around between Chitu Prince (Dick Cardenas) and Another Commander (Javaniel Patterson).
Leaving the three-furlong point in the event, Thomas on the outside urged King Arthur to get closer to the leader Chitu Prince with Ajita (Paul Francis) cutting the corner as the horse entered the stretch for the final two furlongs.
In the straight, King Arthur galloped resolutely on the wet track as Money Monster (Reyan Lewis) on the inside rails started to chase.
That chase was in vain as King Arhur lengthened his stride – pulling away to win by 3 ¼ lengths.
Second was Money Monster with Kholbear (Nicholas Hibbert) third.
The winning time was 1:18.3.
