I Love Birdie Given The Edge In Final Sat, April 18, 2026, Race

THREE YEAR OLDS 2026

The ninth and final race on Saturday’s card promises to be an intriguing contest for three-year-old maidens over six furlongs.

Ten colts and fillies will line up, each seeking that elusive first victory.

The Quick Galloper takes a closer look at the entrants, listed in post-position order, and assesses their chances.

1 – STRONG AVEENU

  • Bay colt (March 19) by Aveenu Malcainu out of Ruby Rose
  • Trainer: Patrick Lynch
  • Jockey: Dane Dawkins
  • Equipment: Tongue tie on

Strong Aveenu has already had two outings but has yet to show any meaningful ability. His performances so far suggest he is still very much on the learning curve. Improvement is needed before he can be considered a serious contender.

2 – ONE IAN LINKS

  • Bay colt (May 15) by Casual Trick out of Darlin
  • Trainer: Barrington Bernard
  • Jockey: Phillip Parchment
  • Equipment: Figure eight, Lasix

A debutant who has been carefully prepared for this assignment. His final workout on April 12 was encouraging, clocking 49.3 seconds for four furlongs down the straight. With that preparation, One Ian Links could make his presence felt and has a realistic chance of hitting the board.

3 – D.O.K

  • Bay colt (May 2) by Spieth out of Regency
  • Trainer: Anthony Nunes
  • Jockey: Anthony Allen
  • Equipment: Visor, tongue tie, Lasix

Another newcomer, D.O.K has put in several gallops leading up to this race. His April 11 drill of 51.3 seconds for four furlongs suggests steady progress. Based on exercise reports, he appears capable of earning a minor share and could surprise with a strong debut.

4 – I LOVE BIRDIE

  • Bay colt (January 22) by Savoy Stomp out of Birdie My Love
  • Trainer: Fitzroy Glispie
  • Jockey: Calvin Bailey

I Love Birdie made a promising debut just 20 days ago, finishing second by two lengths behind Social Storm over five furlongs round. He was running on strongly at the end, and the extra furlong here should suit him perfectly. With that experience under his belt, he looks a genuine contender for top honours.

5 – JUVENTUS ONE

  • Bay colt (January 17) by Savoy Stomp out of Texas Missy
  • Trainer: Anthony Nunes
  • Jockey: Raddesh Roman
  • Equipment: Visor, tongue tie, Lasix

Juventus One is a well-prepared newcomer from a leading barn. His morning gallops have been solid, and he gives the impression of being a useful type. With natural ability and strong connections, he is expected to play a significant role in the outcome.

6 – TOTAL ECLIPSE

  • Bay colt (April 10) by Savoy Stomp out of My Episode
  • Trainer: Alford Brown
  • Jockey: Emelio McLean
  • Equipment: Tongue tie, Lasix

Total Eclipse has already raced three times but has yet to show winning potential. Unless he finds sudden improvement, he looks unlikely to trouble the principals in this contest.

7 – HOORAY HENRY

  • Bay colt (May 3) by Bern Identity out of Princess Lizzy
  • Trainer: Peter-John Parsard
  • Jockey: Omar Walker
  • Equipment: Visor off

Hooray Henry has the advantage of experience, having raced twice already. He has shown early speed and has previously tackled six furlongs, which gives him an edge over many of his rivals. With his pace and familiarity with the distance, he is a major factor and could be right there at the finish.

8 – BRILLIANT BOY

  • Chestnut colt (April 29) by Bern Identity out of Mete-Orite
  • Trainer: Anthony Nunes
  • Jockey: Joy Haynes
  • Equipment: Blinkers off

Despite his appealing pedigree, Brilliant Boy has yet to deliver on the track. His performances so far have been underwhelming, and he cannot be considered a serious option at this stage. More time and experience may be needed before he shows his true ability.

9 – MY FRIEND MICKI

  • Bay filly (April 6) by Savoy Stomp out of Bubbling Angeline
  • Trainer: Gary Griffiths
  • Jockey: Tajay Suckoo

The most experienced runner in the field with ten starts already, My Friend Micki has consistently struggled to break through. While her familiarity with racing is a plus, she has only managed minor placings and is likely to be fighting for another small share rather than victory.

10 – WALL TO WALL

  • Bay colt (February 24) by Savoy Stomp out of Lady Shankari
  • Trainer: Carl Anderson
  • Jockey: Kerry-Gayl Robinson
  • Equipment: Lasix

Wall To Wall begins his racing education here. As a first-time starter, he is expected to gain valuable experience, but winning at the first attempt may be a tall order. He is best watched for future improvement.

PREDICTED FINISHING ORDER

  1. I Love Birdie – Strong debut, extra furlong suits, looks the most reliable choice.
  2. Hooray Henry – Speed and prior six-furlong experience make him a serious challenger.
  3. Juventus One – Well-prepared newcomer with solid morning gallops, could make a big impact.
  4. One Ian Links – Nicely tuned for debut, capable of hitting the board.
  5. D.O.K – Another debutant with steady preparation, may sneak into the frame.
  6. My Friend Micki – Experience counts, but likely only for a minor placing.
  7. Brilliant Boy – Pedigree is appealing, but performances have been disappointing.
  8. Strong Aveenu – Still learning, needs more time to develop.
  9. Total Eclipse – Three starts without promise, hard to recommend.
  10. Wall To Wall – First start, best watched for future improvement.
