Dreambeachdreaming, a three-year-old bay gelding by Slumber out of Manitou Moon, trained by Spencer Chung with Ian Spence in the saddle, made a winning debut in the fourth race on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
Racing in a three-year-old and up non-winners of two call at 5 ½ furlongs, Dreambeachdreaming was not the best away, with Spence choosing instead to settle him in mid-pack early on.
Spence, the wily veteran reinsman, remained patient as Social Storm (Tevin Foster) set the pace into the half-mile (800m) turn, running ahead of Tom Strong (Evertte Clunis) and Dashallday (Raddesh Roman).
Dashallday took over when turning for home, but Dreambeachdreaming was just starting to find himself. After getting in the groove, he entered the straight with Spence angling him to the outside, and the gelding responded with a rapid turn of foot.
He powered past his rivals and drew away with authority to win comfortably by 5½ lengths.
Dashallday held on for second, with Mo Pai (Tajay Suckoo) finishing third. The winning time was clocked at 1:07.3 following fractions of 23.3, 48.1, and 1:00.4. While the final clocking was not blistering, the effort highlighted Dreambeachdreaming’s natural talent and suggested he will progress through his conditions with relative ease to reach Overnight Allowance.
Dashallday is also one to keep an eye on, as the Anthony Nunes trainee put in a commendable effort to stay prominent throughout and secure second place after returning from a lengthy 112-day layoff.
