KINGSTON, Jamaica – After eight unsuccessful attempts the Richard Azan trained Hidden Valley racing with the figure 8 tossed away the maiden tag with a convincing victory in the Caymanas Saturday (June 4) seventh. The Caymanas seventh was Division One of the Marlene My Love Cup for three-year-old maiden fillies going 5 ½ furlongs.
Hidden Valley raced off the pace as stablemates Wowtastic (Robert Halledeen) and Berlino’s Choice set the fractions in wet underfoot conditions as the rain came tumbling down. Rounding the final part of the bend Dane Dawkins had to pull Hidden Valley but quickly recovered to keep in touch with the leading pair, choosing to go on the inside.
Hidden Valley with the experience under her belt started to accelerate at the top of the straight and then went on her business winning by 4 ¼ lengths.
First-timer Wowtastic finished second with Berlino’s Choice third.
