Going With Experience In 3-Year-Old Maiden - It’s Brenda Boy

THREE YEAR OLDS FOUR
KINGSTON, Jamaica - The Harry Jaghai Memorial Trophy will be contested as the seventh race on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Caymanas Park.

The trophy event is a three-year-old maiden call in which 12 are entered to travel 6 ½ furlongs.

The Quick Galloper’s summary of this race is given below.

1 - ROCK-OLA is a chestnut colt (April 3) by Bold Conquest out of Kitty Hawk, trained by Michael Marlowe with Phillip Parchment in the saddle. This colt was scheduled to race on February but was disqualified at the games. Did enough on debut (August 26, 2023) to suggest he can make it in the high-five.

2 - PAPER WORK is a chestnut colt (April 8) by Sensational Slam out of Abicadabby, trained by Gary Subratie with Dane Dawkins aboard. Going well in the mornings. With one of the top riders in the saddle first time out, Paper Work is expected to make an impression.

3 - BROWNIE BROWN is a chestnut filly (April 29) by Shackleville out of Alienate, trained by Winchester McIntosh with Robert Halledeen holding the reins. Note, Brownie Brown races with the tongue tie and figure 8 on. One of the more experienced of this lot. Brownie Brown even with notable equipment change cannot be given a reasonable chance of winning this trophy race.

4 - PAPPIE DON is a bay colt (Jan 20) by Sensational Slam out of Sparkling Michaela, trained by Saqlain Roman with Daniel Thompson riding. Will have to wait and see with this one.

5 - THE SOUL WARRIOR is a roan colt (March 21) by Storm Craft out of Amanda Panda, trained by Phillip Lee with Javaniel Patterson in the saddle. Has five starts to his credit without rattling any feathers.

6 - SHANY STAR is a bay filly (April 1) by Savoy Stomp out of Gentle Officer, trained by Lawrence Freemantle with Tevin Foster aboard. Note, Shany Star races with first-time Lasix. Did well on debut (February 25), when finishing fourth going 5 ½ furlongs. That effort is sufficient enough to give, Shany Star a more than reasonable chance of success.

7 - RACK DEM is a grey filly (April 24) by Midnight Hawk out of Cherokee Way, trained by Fernando Geddes with Paul Francis holding the reins. Coming along and with time will succeed but not on Saturday.

8 - BRENDA BOY is a bay colt (April 3) by Savoy Stomp out of Delightful Brenda, trained by Fitzgerald Richards with Linton Steadman riding. Note, Brenda Boy races with the blinkers on, and first time Lasix. The connections of Brenda Boy have rung the equipment changes to compete in this trophy event. Brenda Boy in his two starts to date has raced over 6 ½ furlongs and 7 furlongs, giving him a distinct edge. Has to be backed to win this one.

9 - DESIGN DIVA is a bay filly (May 31) by Savoy Stomp out of Tashara, trained by Anthony Dixon with Jerome Innis in the saddle. Note, Design Diva races with the figure 8 on. Based on her two outings to date, Design Diva is a good choice for a top-five placing.

10 - QUEEN VAUNA is a bay filly (April 8) by Savoy Stomp out of Trinket Box, trained by Edward Stanberry with Omar Walker aboard. Note, that Queen Vauna races with the blinkers on. Has a long way to go before winning can even be considered.

11 - CAPTAIN SPARROW is a bay colt (March 16) by Savoy Stomp out of Rackman’s Mistress, trained by Anthony Nunes with Raddesh Roman aboard. Reports from morning observers suggest that Captain Sparrow has been progressing enough to excite many of these watchers. A good first run is anticipated.

12 - THE GENERAL is a bay colt (May 12) by Northern Giant out of Mama Blossom, trained by Gary Subratie with Reyan Lewis riding. Note, The General races with the visor and tongue tie on. Note, The General races with the visor and tongue tie on. Heavily backed in his two runs, yet The General failed to deliver. Cannot be giving a winning nod.
