Prncsshootingstar the morning line favourite
KINGSTON, Jamaica - The Hot Line Stakes signals the start of the long and hard road on the trail of the Triple Crown series of races. The Triple Crown is comprised of the 1000 and 2000 Guineas, the Jamaica St Leger, and the Jamaica Derby.
The Hot Line, to be run on Saturday, March 12, 2022, is the first of the major preparation races for three-year-olds (fillies only), going a distance of six furlongs. The original field of eight horses nominated in this year’s Hot Line has been reduced to seven with the early withdrawal of horse number five, Valhalla.
Drawn at one is Pelicula, a three-year-old bay filly by Soul Warrior out of Milestone. Pelicula returned to racing earlier this year finishing fourth behind three colts. This filly has a difficulty at the gates, a hindrance in her career. Pelicula will be giving of her best in the lane.
Drawn at two is Our Angel, a three-year-old bay filly by Savoy Stomp out of Myangel. Our Angel graced the track just three weeks ago in a race designed as a prep for the Hot Line. Then she finished fourth and now finds herself in better stead to play a more active role in this encounter.
Drawn at three is A Gift From Ben, a three-year-old chestnut filly by Here Comes Ben out of Sage’s Gift Box. A Gift From Ben did well to secure her maiden victory clocking a reasonable time of 1:08.1 (5 ½ furlongs). This filly is currently finding herself and is going to need time.
Drawn at four is Rupunzel, a three-year-old bay filly by Savoy Stomp out of Miss Pasion. Rupunzel is one of the most consistent of her cohort, hitting the board in all her nine starts. Rupunzel will prove to be a stubborn competitor.
Drawn at five is Valhalla - an early late non-starter.
Drawn at six is Prncsshootingstar a three-year-old bay filly by Buzz Nightmare – Khalessi’s Revenge. Prncsshootingstar is the hot morning line favourite. This filly has promised much from the time she won the first two-year-old race of last year. Since then Prncsshootingstar has raced twice finishing fourth on October 30 (six furlongs) and then third on November 27 (seven furlongs). Prncsshootingstar returns in the Hotline after a break of 105 days and will use her known speed to good effect. Rivals will have to catch her.
Drawn at six is Silent Mission a three-year-old bay filly by Savoy Stomp out of Lady Mandi. Silent Mission last raced in the Grade 111 Cash Pot “Only One For Me” Trophy last October when she was third behind Slammer and Perfect Brew, after being with the early pace only to fade in the straight. In that October race, Silent Mission ran in front of Prncsshootingstar and has every chance of winning despite being away from competitive racing for 133 days. Silent Mission races tomorrow with the visor off.
Drawn at seven is Fly Messenger Fly a three-year-old chestnut filly by Northern Giant – Preach Preacher. Fly Messenger Fly has faced the starter 13 times - yet even that experience will not be adequate to earn a spot on the board.
