KINGSTON, Jamaica – In a fitting tribute to the great Eros, Eagle One, a US importee produced his best ever effort with a thumping run racing for the first time at the  Open Allowance/Graded Stakes level to prevail in the Caymanas Saturday ninth.

The Eros Trophy run over seven furlongs saw as expected Father Patrick (Oshane Nugent) from the number one draw taking the lead followed by the Jason DaCosta trained pair of Eagle One (Dick Cardenas) and King Arthur (Anthony Thomas) in that order.

Oneofakind (Romario Spencer) the top rated horse currently in training was slowly out and was then rushed by the inexperienced apprentice and lost all chances of winning before two furlongs were completed.

Father Patrick with his superior speed brought the pack into the straight which is when Eagle One started to accelerate while moving from the middle of the track to the inside rails.

Eagle One went by a fading Father Patrick to win by a length in a time of 1:27.0. Eagle One’s stablemate King Arthur nipped Father Patrick by a nose to earn the second slot.

Both Eagle One and King Arthur are owned by Carlton Watson.
